Neither the person giving the teleclass, nor the people listening in, have to travel or stay in a hotel overnight. The only expense is the fee for the class, and very often the shorter classes are done free of charge.
Sometimes the purpose of the free class is two-fold - [1] to give training to the attendees at a fraction of the time and money they would have spent if they had traveled to hear the speaker; and [2] to tell the listeners about an upcoming class. This is generally a class that is longer and more detailed than the one they just heard.
Teleclasses can allow the listener to pick up short segments of information in one session, or they can be scheduled over the span of several days, weeks or even months, to allow for more in-depth learning. One of the greatest things about teleclasses is that they allow for flexibility in schdeuling.
Quite often the speaker or teacher will provide a download link or offer a replay of the teleclass, which can be listened to at a later time. If a person has signed up for the teleclass, but can't make the actual live call, he or she can listen to the replay, or listen to the call after downloading it from the link provided. The call can then also be transferred to CD, and listened to over and over again.
