Business writing has come a long way from the days of scriveners using quill pens and bottles of ink. Traditionally, a scrivener was someone who could read and write. It was the scrivener’s responsibility to do secretarial and administrative duties, including recording historical information. This was long before reading and writing became more and more commonplace in society.

So how does this fit in with whether your business needs a blog? First, a lot of people still don’t understand the concept of a blog – its purpose or what a powerful business tool it can be. Blogs are frequently thought of as something used to tell about one’s favorite recipes or their love of skiing.

But a business without a blog is missing a great opportunity to attract potential clients and customers. A blog has become an essential part of doing business if you intend to have an online presence. It’s another way of giving a business an advantage over competitors.

Some businesses have an in-house staff member who handles all the blogging for that company. Many businesses hire someone to write blog posts for them.

No matter what type of business you have, a blog can be used to bring more attention to what you have to offer.

What if you don’t have time to keep up with a blog? Beeman Communications can help. We offer professional blogging services that can be tailored to fit your needs. Just give us a call, or fill out the form in the right-hand column. We’ll be in touch right away.

Social media has taken the world by storm. It is the “next big thing”, with no end in sight. But a lot of people are still trying to figure out what Social Media is, how it applies to them, and how they can use it in their business.

Think of Social Media as a natural conversation between two or more people about something of mutual interest. It’s like an ordinary conversation in which thoughts are expressed and experiences are shared. From a business perspective, it’s about an exchange of ideas that results in everyone making a better or more-informed decision.

Of course, some Social Media applications are more limited than others. Twitter, for example, limits messages, called “tweets” to 140 characters, requiring that some thought be given to the message before sending it out.

“Followers” can be picked up fairly quickly, and a large audience can be built in a short amount of time. This can be both good and bad. “Tweeting” just to put something out into cyberspace can result in people becoming annoyed with your information. They may not care that you just had a burrito for lunch. On the other hand, not posting regularly can mean you lose the attention of the very people you worked so hard to gain.

Twitter, facebook, and Linkedin are the most popular social media applications today. But you can be sure that developers are hard at work trying to come up with something that will make them outdated, even obsolete.

It’s easy to see that technology is moving at warp speed. Far more technological advances have been made in the past ten years than were made in the previous fifty years. If a company wants to maintain a presence in the ever-changing world of information, developing a Social Media strategy is a must.

Another important point to remember is that blogging is a big part of social media. Simply put, social media is just another way to connect with the people who want to hear what you have to say. Developing a Social Media Marketing Strategy can boost your bottom line in no time.

Offering the best services, being the best in your field, or having the best product won’t pull in more business if the world has never heard of you. Put the power of Social Media Marketing to work for your company. You’ll be amazed at the results you’ll see in a very short amount of time.

You may be completely baffled by the little blue bird, or how to become a facebook “fan”, or what Linkedin networks are. Maybe you want your company to have a blog, but you either don’t know how to get started, or you simply don’t have the time to find blogging material on a regular basis.
