Blogging

Let’s talk about blogging. What is it? Where did the term come from? Who needs a blog? How is it done? Can everyone do it? Writing a blog is probably more simple than you think – simple, but necessarily easy. What’s the difference? Let me give you some information.

Originally, blogging was pretty much the done only by members of newsgroups. It dates back to the 1980′s, and acted as a digital bulletin board for people exchanging technical information, news of the business world, etc. Then it grew in popularity, and as more people became technically literate, interest in blogs grew as well. Suddenly recipes, family news and “how I spent my summer vacation” were posted for the world to see.

Unlike a static web site, which requires either a fair amount of knowledge about HTML, CSS, scripts and web design programs, formats like Blogspot and Blogger.com made it possible for anyone to have their own place to share information without needing to know anything about programming. It caught on like wildfire, and today there are no fewer than 40 sites that offer to host free blogs.

There is no secret to blogging. You simply write whatever is on your mind and publish or update it. Anyone who can read and write can have a blog. And if they can’t type, they can hire someone to do it for them. Yes, there are people and companies who specialize in writing blog material for others.

Not everyone likes to write – and not everyone is good at it. But it seems that most people would like to be a published author, and in today’s business world, having published a book gives you more credibility. The same can be said about whether your company has a blog.
The general public almost expects it, and if you don’t have one, they will be curious as to why not.

Maybe you don’t like to write, or you don’t know what to say. Maybe you don’t have the time to research materials in order to have quality content. Maybe you don’t have the time to maintain the blog But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a blog if you want one, especially if it can bring new customers and clients to your business.

At Beeman Communications, we love to write; to us, research is fun, not work, and we have the knowledge and skills to put your business on the right track with a blog you can be proud of and see results from.
